I love the Witch! Not just because it's Bernadette, but she's quite the character beneath the deadpan humour and magic powers (or lack thereof). I spent a lot of time studying her Act II costume, making sketches and whatnot. Although now that I look at some production stills, the bodice is slightly different at the waist and I'm not sure of the belt, either. Also, there was no way I was going to put in the gold tree-branch print on the lining of her cloak.

This is the Witch from Into the Woods. Into the Woods is Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's wonderful 1987 musical that blends several fairy tales into a fable about parent-child relationships, responsibility to the community, and honesty.
